Improvised Jazz music came from Black culture and my aim is to continue to support and homage the music that has inspired me. I hope, primarily, that listening to my music may lead some people on to checking out some of the real artists of Free Improvisation, Free Jazz etc.

The new Big Fuss album is an exploration of Free, improvisational ideas that have been expressed in previous work, but not embraced in full. This album I feel is more stripped back, more thoughtful about the improvising and more precious of the recordings.

Obviously due to lockdown, I haven't been able to play so much, particularly my drums which has been very difficult. This, however, means that when I do play and record them, the recordings have much more poignance to me. The same can be said for most of the other recordings, as I've been struggling to find the right time to record ideas. I feel this album has a lot of vulnerability to it, and is an extension on the stripped back ideas in a short works album I did a while ago.

I have Fred to thank very much for his always forward thinking contributions to this project, this time only going off some notes and a few recordings I had sent him. I think the music sent back adds another, vital layer to make this as it is.

Music is forever changing, eternal if you like. I feel improvised music is the best way of finding comfort with that idea.
