stuarty18 Claude Debussy said something famous about music being the spaces between notes - Rhythm Piece is a lovely example of this - somehow the playful gaps at the start kind of engage a point of enquiry or intrigue which is unusual I think - and the reward for slowing everything down to a stilted wait is well worth the journey. I find Song of Sadness ....exactly that.. perfectly musically put. A welcome addition to my small Bandcamp menu.

about

This album is a piece of vulnerability. I have crafted this set of 'improvisations around a theme', and it's been so much fun that I'm sure I will do it again when it feels right.

I hope that it will be a varied listen. I don't expect that anyone will be in awe of my ability, but I hope that the creativity and art of it will come through in what you hear. I hope also that you will hear my personal approach, being dogmatic with how the melody moves, in what borders it moves and how those notes are performed dynamically. Of course, I am also limited by the range of the Clarinet and also my inexperience of the instrument.

I like to leave space to think during recording, respond to what I have just played and then arrange the collection of performances in an order that I find satisfying to listen back to. This, in short, is the process of this music.
